Future Agricultural Resource Management and Water Innovations for a Sustainable Europe

Climate change has already impacted several sectors, including agriculture and people’s lives, causing severe damage worldwide. Consequently, there is a crucial need for a better decision support system and management solutions for agriculture. The EU-funded FARMWISE project aims to transform the EU’s agriculture sector by providing farmers and decision-makers with a revolutionary decision support system using AI, remote sensing, and precision agriculture. Furthermore, the project will collaborate with European organisations to increase knowledge sharing and co-creation, develop novel AI-based tools for improved water monitoring and management, and assist farmers and researchers. Finally, to achieve this, FARMWISE will collaborate with researchers and stakeholders in the sector.
Associate Prof. Amir Naghibi from Smart-Geo-AI leads the development of the DSS in the project and are developing FARMWISE Database, Scientific Interface, and a Policy Intervention System. The Policy Intervention System plays an important role in decision making at policy and governance level, where water manegers and policymakers can simulate the impact of various land use, fertilisers usage, management, and innovation policies on water quality and quantity, as well as water use efficiency. The Policy Intervention System will be available soon.
